Deputies on lookout for teens
Bonner County Sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for a trio of armed teen-aged boys suspected in an attempted drug robbery at a rural home north of here Tuesday morning. Sheriff’s Lt. Harry Thompson said Jamie Haig, 34, of Priest River was walking to an outhouse outside her El Rio Road home shortly after 8 a.m. when she was confronted by the trio, who demanded she give them drugs. According to Thompson, Haig told deputies, she answered, “We don’t have any drugs.”

Storro wins top award
Brett Storro, son of Norman and Barb Storro, made a name for himself at the Bonner County Fair. Storro was named as the top model in the 11-and 12-year-old category, wearing a purple, -green- and blue- patterned outfit he made himself.

Celebrating Goldie’s birthday
An open house to honor Goldie Jackson is scheduled for Sept. 6 at the home of her grandson, Larry Stwart. Mrs. Jackson, who has lived in Priest River since 1927, will celebrate her 90th birthday. The open house, to which everyone is invited, will be held from 2-4 p.m. at 614 Harriet Street.

Merlie Morrow received the All-Around Lumberjack trophy and his son Ron was runner-up at the loggers contests at Eureka, Mont., on Aug. 18 and 29.

City Cash Market changes hands
Lester and Byrd Krizenesky have purchased the City Cash Market from Mrs. Inez Anselmo and Mrs. Darleen Clintsman in a transaction completed last week. The building in which the market is located, was included in the deal, and the Krizeneskys are planning extensive remodeling. The market is located at the intersection of Main and High streets.

Runaway horse kills Blanchard boy
Gary McGavran 15, was killed Friday afternoon. He was hauling the last load of cordwood for the day with a team when the load upset. His brother, Larry, also on the load, jumped and was uninjured. The frightened horses ran and Gary evidently held on to the reins in an effort to stop them and was dragged for some distance.

Bonner County, along with other North Idaho counties, will this year have a few days of grouse and native pheasant shooting.

Laclede high school discontinued
It is reported that the high school at Laclede will be discontinued for the coming school year, the pupils being transported to the local high school. At present, there are nine pupils who will enter high school.

New partner, new name
Mike Murray, father in the firm of Murray & Son, has sold his interest to Jack Bremmer. The new firm will be known as Murray & Bremmer, and they are prepared to do the best in blacksmithing of all kinds, either light or heavy, at a moment’s notice.
