The Superior Lady Bobcats rallied hard to the last point, but in the end they could not overcome the talent and experience of Seeley as the visiting Lady Blackhawks recorded a 3-0 sweep Thursday night in Superior.

After taking the opening game, Seeley fought off a Superior squad trying to regroup and get back into what was the season-opening match for both teams. The Lady Blackhawks won the second set of the match 25-19 and appeared to be on their way to an easy sweep of Superior.

But the third set featured a different Lady Bobcat team than the one that labored to find a rhythm during the first two sets.

Seeley jumped off to a quick 5-1 lead and appeared to be in total control when the Lady Bobcats began to click into a higher gear.

They tied the set a 9-9, only to slip four points back a short time later when Seeley forged a hard-fought 19-15 third set lead.

With their serves staying in bounds and their hitting crisper, Superior erased that lead and tied the score at 20-20.

They built a slim 22-20 lead before Seeley fought back into a 22-22 tie, then took a 23-22 lead.

The set was tied one more time at 23 before Seeley won two straight points to steal the set 25-23 and secure the sweep.

Next up for the Lady Bobcats this week is a Thursday road trip to Hot Springs where they will face a Lady Savage Heat team struggling with a depleted roster.

Superior returns to its home court Saturday night for a meeting with conference foe Noxon.
