POST FALLS — A woman who failed to appear for her own sentencing on a burglary charge is back in jail.
Jennifer L. Curry, 38, of Medical Lake, Wash., pleaded guilty in April to burglary, a felony.
The charge stems from December 2020, when Post Falls police responded to a report that Curry had walked out of Walmart with a shopping cart full of items she hadn’t purchased.
Employees said Curry pushed her cart through a fire exit, triggering alarms.
Security footage reportedly corroborated their version of events.
Police said the back of Curry’s vehicle was filled “nearly to the ceiling” with merchandise worth around $2,000, including makeup, culinary knives and electronics.
Curry was charged with theft five times prior to 2019, according to court documents.
As part of a plea agreement, the state dismissed a felony charge of grand theft.
Prosecutors planned to recommend supervised probation in the case, according to court documents.
A judge issued a warrant for Curry’s arrest after she failed to appear for a presentence investigation in June.
She then reportedly failed to appear for her own sentencing.
Deputies with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office arrested Curry on Friday.
She remains in jail on $30,000 bail.
