Spirit Lake's Labor Day fun shifts to Sunday

Spirit Lake’s Labor Day celebration is set for Sunday.

It will include what is often referred to as the world’s shortest parade. Starting at 11 a.m., the parade winds up Maine Street and makes a left on Fourth and heads to City Park. It includes wagons, lawnmowers, a few animals, decorated vehicles and plenty of candy — and it generally takes less than 10 minutes, so don't be late.

The fun continues from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, with music, vendors and a car and motorcycle show put on by the Spirit Lake Roy Racy VFW Post 1473. The post is also expected to be giving out its traditional free corn on the cob.

Spirit Lake’s Labor Day celebration has traditionally been held on Labor Day, but moved to Sunday this year.
