SANDPOINT — City officials remind residents of the city survey for the proposed 1% local option tax.
Wednesday, Sept. 8 there will be a special city council meeting for the consideration of a new resort city local option tax on the ballot for voters to consider in November, City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton said.
For the tax to pass there must be a super majority of votes. As of Sept. 1, electric survey responses have been the highest the city has seen by closing in on 700 responses, Stapleton said.
The survey can be taken from accessing the city’s Facebook page, using the Engage Sandpoint app and through the public kiosk at City Hall.
The survey will close Monday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. The results of the survey will be presented to the council in the special session on Sept. 8.
Friday, Sept. 3, at 5 p.m. is the last day to submit a file for city council candidacy, Mayor Shelby Rognstad said, there are three open council seats available in the November election.
Prospective candidates must file with the city clerk. The three council members whose seats are available are current council members Shannon Sherman, Joel Aispuro and John Darling’s.
