The Trojan football squad fell 84-6 to Flint Creek during their Sept. 3 away game.

Facing off against the Titans — reigning state champs of eight-man football — is always a challenge for Troy, according to coach Luke Haggerty. The tough matchup was made even more difficult by the loss of Troy’s starting quarterback Trevor Grant early in the game.

Slotback Paxton Fisher stepped up to fill Grant's shoes and threw a series of passes in the fourth quarter that led to Troy’s single touchdown of the night. Haggerty said Fisher launched a 30-yard pass before lobbing the 20-yard end zone pass.

“He’s a cannon,” said Haggerty.

Defensively, the Trojan’s tackling abilities are improving. While the scoreboard might not reflect the changes yet, Haggerty said Troy is nevertheless making their opponents work to get the ball down the field.

Haggerty noted that the Titans kept many of their top players on the field into the second half because it was Flint Creek’s senior night.

Heading into their Sept. 10 game against Clark Fork, Haggerty said Troy would focus on establishing a running game early in the matchup.

The Trojans will hit the road to play the Alberton-Superior co-op team at 7 p.m.
