EWU QB Barriere earns second straight Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honor
After throwing for over 500 yards for the second straight week, Eastern Washington quarterback Eric Barriere has earned his ninth career Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week award
It's the redshirt senior's second consecutive player of the week nod and his third this season. He also received national recognition from College Sports Madness as the National Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight time, and received an honorable mention nod from College Football Performance.
Barriere compiled 546 yards of total offense in a 50-21 road victory at Southern Utah on Saturday, helping the Eagles sit at 4-0 overall for the first time since 1997 and leading the squad to their first road win in Cedar City, Utah, since 2014.
The Inglewood, Calif., native threw four touchdown passes and had 518 of Eastern's single-game school record 554 passing yards while also adding 28 yards on the ground. He completed 30 of his 43 passing attempts and was without an interception for the third straight game. Barriere also became the first FCS player with consecutive 500-yard passing performances since Cornell's Jeff Mathews in 2011.
Barriere reached a personal milestone, too, as he became the fourth Eastern Washington quarterback in program history to throw for over 10,000 yards, cracking the Big Sky top-ten career list as well. Now sitting at 10,437 career passing yards, he moved into second in EWU history in career completions (756) and total yards of offense with 11,901 (1,646 rushing yards).
