MILWAUKIE, Ore. — For the second year in a row, the Pear Bureau Northwest is sponsoring an “Aisle of Red Pears” display contest for retailers across the United States and Canada.

According to a new release from Pear Bureau Northwest, any retailer can participate by submitting an “eye-catching” photo of a six-foot square display of red Anjou pears. All entrants will receive a $25 Visa gift card, with 10 prizes awarded to winners randomly.

The contest comes as part of the March observance of National Nutrition Month, PBNW President and CEO Kevin Moffitt said in the press release. He added that the goal of the display contest is to prompt retailers to create displays showing off Anjou pears as possible impulse buys.

To enter the contest, or to view contest rules, visit the PBNW website at trade.usapears.org/display-challenge/. Aisle of Red Pears contest materials are also available upon request, and stores are welcome to create their own materials, the press release said.

There Aisle of Red Pears challenge runs through the end of March, with entries due by April 15.

“Eye-catching displays are a key strategy to boost pear sales,” Moffitt said in the press release.
