Joyce Finley, 96, of 8474 Sunny Lane, Hayden, Idaho, passed away March 22, 2022, at Schneidmiller Hospice House, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Joyce was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Newport, Idaho, to Hale Burnham and Irma Denham. Joyce attended school in the Sandpoint, Idaho, area graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1942. She married Ralph K. Finley on Dec. 11, 1942, in Sandpoint, Idaho. They had four children; Donna, Linda, Jan and Ken. Joyce was a homemaker while providing help to Ralph during the years he ran a 66 Station in Wallace, Idaho, and later Kootenai distributing in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was involved as a Campfire leader when Linda and Jan were in Campfire Girls and also as a den mother for her son, Ken.

Joyce spent most of her life residing in North Idaho. She moved to the Hayden address from her home in Dalton Gardens after Ralph's death in 1983. She spent several years on the election board for Kootenai County. She was a 34-year member of the Hayden Eagles and a dual member of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, volunteering at both auxiliaries. She was awarded the Woman of the Year Award in 2019 for all her work and efforts in fundraising and community service. She also served on the board for the Striders, a senior walking group that promoted group walks and exercise classes for seniors.

She is survived by her three daughters, Donna Leader of Sagle, Idaho, Linda (Doug) Brannon of Nevada City, Calif., Janice (Bim) Lindsey of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Arlie Kellogg of Sandpoint, Idaho; sister-in-law, Jean Kellogg of Bullhead City, Ariz.; nine nieces, eight nephews, 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Ralph of 41 years; brothers Hale, Maurice and Dan; sisters Betty and Jean; and son Ken.

A viewing visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho, with a funeral taking place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Yates – Hayden Chapel. Joyce will be laid to rest at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, Coeur d’ Alene, ID. A reception will follow the graveside at the Eagles — Hayden Lodge, 1520 W. Wyoming Ave., Hayden, ID 83835.
