Officials temporarily placed Evergreen Junior High School on lockdown Friday after a man armed with a knife allegedly tried to enter the building.

Caelus James Hattel, 19, of Kalispell faces a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge following the incident. Authorities said Hattel was foiled by the building’s locked doors when he tried to get inside about 11:54 a.m., April 8.

A Montana Highway Patrol trooper, working with the school resource officer, located and arrested Hattel shortly thereafter, according to a press release issued by the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

Hattel was being held at the Flathead County Detention Center on a $285 bond as of Friday evening.
