Boise State announces plans for athletics master village
BOISE — Boise State Athletics released its initial Playbook for Success, which includes a first look into concepts for an Athletics Master Village, BSU athletic director Jeramiah Dickey announced Thursday.
Among the additions:
Adding premium seating to Albertsons Stadium, and expanding capacity to 40,000-plus;
Updating ExtraMile Arena;
Building a 5,000-seat arena;
An outdoor practice football field;
A new indoor tennis center;
A new soccer complex;
A turf playing surface for the softball field at Dona Larsen Park;
Relocation of beach volleyball courts;
A new weight room;
And many other niceties.

Former Lake City High standout Manzardo assigned to Rays' High-A affiliate
Kyle Manzardo is now a Hot Rod.
Manzardo, the former Lake City High and Washington State standout, was assigned by the Tampa Bay Rays to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, their High-A affiliate in the South Atlantic League.
Manzardo, a second round draft pick of Tampa Bay last July, saw action in two games with the major league club during spring training, drawing a walk and striking out in two plate appearances.
Bowing Green is scheduled to open its season tonight against the Asheville Tourists in Bowling Green, Ky.
Vandal Scramble to honor Dr. Jim Robson
HAYDEN LAKE — The Kootenai County Vandal Boosters annual golf fundraiser, scheduled for May 21 at Hayden Lake Country Club, has been renamed the Jim and Shelly Robson Vandal Scramble.
The name change honors the Robsons' longtime support of Vandal athletics.
Dr. Jim Robson, a University of Idaho graduate and member of the Vandal ski team, ran Avondale Dental in Hayden Lake for more than 40 years. Robson died in September at age 74.
Shelly Robson, also a Vandal grad, has worked for the Idaho athletic department for the past 17 years.
Player registration for the event is underway, and sponsors are being sought.
