It was a battle until the very end.

The Bonner County Daily Bee March Madness contest provided just as much madness as the NCAA tournament.

The battle for the $100 grand prize came down to Suzanne Letourneau and Ben Vanhorn.

Letourneau and Vanhorn had matching championship games, selecting Gonzaga and Kansas to play in the final game of the tournament.

Vanhorn already had one tiebreaker secured, that being Final Four teams picked.

He had correctly picked both Kansas and Villanova to make it to the Final Four, which gave him an early edge heading into Monday’s contest..

The only obstacle that stood in Vanhorn’s way was a Kansas win over North Carolina.

Unfortunately, for Vanhorn, The Jayhawks ended up cutting down the nets, and fortunately for Letourneau meant she won the $100 prize.

Vanhorn’s original championship pick and score was Gonzaga taking down Kansas 87-80, and Letourneau’s was Kansas defeating Gonzaga 78-76.

Both finalists went with the over on the total points in the actual championship game, that being 141. Vanhorn had 167 and Letourneau had 154.

In the NCAA championship game, North Carolina built a comfortable 40-25 halftime lead over Kansas.

It seemed as though the Tarheels had the game all but wrapped up and were ready to be crowned the 2022 NCAA national champions, but Kansas pulled off a historic comeback, the largest in NCAA tournament history.

With the victory for the Jayhawks, Letourneau was crowned the 2022 Bonner County Daily Bee March Madness Challenge champion.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the madness.
