SPOKANE — Drew Romo singled to score Benjamin Simes with the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning for Spokane to make it a 6-6 game, but visiting Vancouver got an RBI double from Riley Tirotta to score PK Morris with the go-ahead run in an 8-6 win over the Indians in front of 4,180 on opening night of the Northwest League baseball season at Avista Stadium on Friday.
Daniel Montano was thrown out at home trying to score the winning run for Spokane in the ninth inning, sending the game to extra innings.
Vancouver extended the lead on a wild pitch by Spokane pitcher Shelby Lackey to score Hugo Cardona with two out in the top of the 10th.
Montano finished the game with two RBIs for Spokane, which finished 4 for 15 with runners in scoring position.
The teams will meet again tonight at Avista Stadium at 5 p.m.
