SAFETY NET: Headline is ‘Success!’
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 4 years AGO
No one reads the paper anymore. How often have you heard that?
Safety Net, an organization that supports youths who age out of foster care, is expanding to Kootenai County. Volunteers spent last Saturday at the Safety Net “Fill the Warehouse” donation drive.
The Spokane Board and the Coeur d’Alene Advisory Board were pleasantly surprised and downright amazed at the incredible number of generous souls who contributed. Pickup trucks rolled in with a variety of furniture such as futons, loveseats, dressers, desks and dining sets.
Car trunks popped open — dishes, vacuum cleaners, kitchen utensils and cleaning supplies appeared. Foster Alums, many with no family or support systems, will now be able to furnish their apartments.
We made it a point to ask donors, “How did you hear about us?” In my opinion, approximately 75% answered, “I saw the article in the paper.”
Please convey our kudos to Elli Goldman Hilbert at The Press for the great coverage of Safety Net. She provided details that touched hearts and compelled giving.
Thank you Coeur d’Alene Press for helping us fill our warehouse with items that will help our Foster Alums set up their apartments. We credit you with helping make our Donation Drive a success.
I am so glad that so many still read the newspaper!
With great appreciation for all you do to make our community better.
