A 19-year-old faces a felony criminal endangerment charge after Montana Highway Patrol troopers caught her allegedly drunk behind the wheel with a 13-year-old in the vehicle.
Daysha D’Ann Guzman initially was held on a $10,000 bond in the Flathead County Detention Center following her April 9 arrest. Her arraignment is set for May 12.
Troopers arrested Guzman after pulling her over on Conrad Drive in Kalispell about 11:14 p.m. According to court documents, Guzman’s vehicle lacked a taillight.
During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers said she displayed watery eyes and slurred speech. Her breath allegedly smelled of an alcoholic beverage.
Asked to perform field sobriety tests, Guzman performed poorly, court documents said. A preliminary breath test put her breath alcohol content at .237, according to an affidavit. She was later taken to Logan Health to give a blood sample.
The 13-year-old allegedly told troopers that the pair drank Everclear earlier in the evening.
Guzman faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in state prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted.
