A commercial building on Warren Street in Hayden was engulfed in flames Tuesday evening.
"It’s about a 10,000-square-foot structure, in an industrial area," said Northern Lakes Fire Protection District Deputy Fire Marshal Chris Larson, around 8 p.m. “We have it knocked down. It's still an active fire inside."
It was not immediately known which business or businesses were affected. No injuries were known at that time.
Coeur d'Alene Fire Department, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and Northern Lakes were on scene, with additional agencies coming in.
"We won’t know the cause until after they're able to get the fire under control and cooled down to perform the investigation," Larson said.
No suspects were reported by press time.

The suspense and excitement ratcheted up with every name that was called at the conclusion of the North Idaho Women and Their Money Conference. Finally, the 20 $1,000 North Idaho Scholarship winners stood on the Schuler Performing Arts stage, some crying happy tears as they held their certificates and smiled for the camera. "That's a wrap!" they exclaimed in unison as the audience burst into applause and streams of colorful confetti exploded overhead. "I didn't even believe it," Latasha Collings of Coeur d'Alene said. "I was like, 'There must be another one out here.'"
