PREP SOFTBALL: Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene split

COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Vikings scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning of the second game to beat the visiting Post Falls Trojans 7-6 and earn a split of their Inland Empire League softball doubleheader Tuesday at Larry Schwenke Field.
Post Falls won the opener 9-4.
In the second game, Alexis Blankenship hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning to break the ice for Coeur d’Alene (7-2, 4-2 IEL).
Delaney Gosch was 3 for 4 and drove in three runs for the Vikings.
Kailey Cramer hit an inside-the-park homer in the top of the fifth to increase Post Falls’ lead to 5-3.
In the first game, McKenna Moak went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs for Post Falls (8-4, 5-3). Peyton Lozier hit a two-run homer in the first inning for the Trojans.
On Saturday, Post Falls plays host to Sandpoint, and Coeur d’Alene is home against Moscow, both in IEL doubleheaders.

COEUR d’ALENE — Hope Bodak went 4 for 4 with a homer, three doubles, seven runs batted in and four runs scored in the opener for the host Timberwolves in the IEL sweep.
Bodak hit a three-run homer in the second inning for Lake City (3-6, 3-3 IEL).
Layla Gugino hit a solo homer in the second for Lake City to snap a 1-all tie. Hanah Stoddard added a solo shot in the second.
Jaidyn Inman led off the game with a homer for Sandpoint, and Aspen Schwenk hit a two-run homer in the third.
In the second game, Layla Gugino and Brooklyn Wullenwaber combined on a five-inning two-hitter for Lake City. Karah Clevenger went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, and finished with four RBIs on the day, and Taylor Hill had three hits.
Sandpoint is 0-4, 0-2.
Lake City travels to Lewiston on Saturday for an IEL doubleheader.
