Man hospitalized after shooting in Rathdrum

RATHDRUM — A man was hospitalized Sunday after a gun was fired in Rathdrum.

Rathdrum Police Department reported it responded to a shooting at 2 p.m. in the 7700 block of Wright Street.

Upon arrival, officers began medical treatment on a male victim who had a single gunshot wound. The male was transported via ambulance to a local hospital.

The police contacted all involved parties. It appears someone inside the home negligently discharged the firearm. Police said there is no threat to the public.

Because this is an ongoing investigation, Rathdrum Police said no further information will be released at this time.
