William E. Collins, 88

William E. Collins “Woody” passed away on April 6 at 7:58 p.m., at his home in the loving arms of his son James Collins.

Born in Virginia on Nov. 4, 1933. He was a very proud Virginian. Telling everyone how many presidents came out of Virginia. Woody landed in Idaho in 1992 after living in several states, after Virginia he lived in California, Montana, Oregon, Washington and finally settling in Idaho with his wife Peggy whom he married May 29, 1992. Woody proceeded Peggy’s passing.

After hearing of Woody’s passing his sister Hazel who he was incredibly close with passed just days after him. She still resides in Virginia.

Woody was one of seven kids. Hazel, Edna, Elene, Jewell, Helen, Gale, and Woody. Jewell is the last remaining with us.

Woody lived life to the fullest. He was quite the story teller. Always laughing and smiling and telling stories.

Woody joined the Navy at seventeen and served proudly until his early twenties. He was active during the Korean war. We thank him for his heroism. Oh, the stories he had about his days on the ship. Always, good, funny life lessons.

Woody had four children. Mike, Debbie, Barry, and James. Several stepchildren and countless grandchildren. He was everyone’s grandpa.

Loving to read he’d donate the books he read to share with others. Passionately political in a positive way, Woody had a passion for sports. He was an amazing baseball player, bowler, football and even tug of war. He had several trophies in all sports. He also had a passion for motorcycles. Also having several trophies in motorcycle competitions.

Woody had strong belief in the lord and was a proud Christian. Being a good Christian neighbor and friend to all.

Having coached his son James in baseball. James carried on his family tradition that his father and grandfather carried and joined the Marines. James was the only one of Woody’s children who lived close by and the father son relationship they had was something everyone would be proud to witness.

We will be having a memorial for Woody on Saturday April 23, 2022, at Mountain View Bible church in Post Falls at 11 a.m. Everyone who knew Woody and would like to pay their respects is welcome. Mountain View Bible church is located at 3974 Chase Road, Post Falls, Idaho, 83854.
