Pend d’Oreille Review
April 28, 1922 – EARLY SWIMMERS
The distinction of being the first to take to the waters of Lake Pend d’Oreille this year goes to two young Sandpoint ladies, Ellamae Farmin and Catherine Knisely, who officially inaugurated the swimming season April 17. Usually the boys are the first to go in, but they were beat this year. The girls donned their bathing suits at the Farmin boathouse, paddled a canoe to the bathing beach, plunged into the chill waters and after a brief immersion, paddled back to the boathouse. A few days later Chester Campbell and Victor Monahan tried out spring swimming and didn’t like it. The lake is still cold and it is not expected that many will soon follow the young peoples’ lead.

OPEN UNDERTAKING PARLORS
Arbie M. Dale and Lawrence Moon have formed a partnership and will establish undertaking parlors here within a few days, at the Moon residence on Lake street, between Fourth and Euclid avenues. A hearse and part of their supplies have arrived and as soon as the balance of the equipment arrives, the new parlors will be opened, perhaps in a few days. Mr. Moon will manage the business, while Mr. Dale will continue in his position with the C.E. Neuman jewelry store.
