SHS girls golfers shine at Post Falls Invite

POST FALLS — Both the boys and girls of Sandpoint’s golf team competed at the Post Falls Invitational at the Highlands golf course on Wednesday.

The girls finished in third place and the boys placed fifth.

Coeur d’Alene hoisted the team title for the boys. Coeur d’ Alene’s Trey Nipp also notched medalist honors for the boys with a score of 72.

For the girls, Lewiston took first place as a team with a score of 355. Lewiston’s Mollie Seibly also earned medalist honors with a score of 81.

Taylor Mire continued to lower her score, shooting an 82.

She took 11 strokes off her score from her last competition at the Wandermere Golf Course on April 22.

Alexa Tuinstra also shot under 100 with a score of 92. She improved her score by four strokes.

For the boys, it was a tight race for third place.

Sandpoint, Moscow, and Lake City all finished within three strokes of each other.

Moscow ended up with the bronze finish with a team score of 334. Lake City finished in fourth with a score of 336, and Sandpoint ended with a score of 337.

Jacob Gove, Jake Samuels, Joey Aexel and Aerie Vandenberg all shot in the 80s.

Gove led the pack with an 80. Aexel finished with an 83, and Vandenberg shot an 89.

Sandpoint will be back in action on Friday, May 6 at the Lakeland Invitational.
