BONNERS FERRY —- The Boundary County Fair is open as Boundary County Future Farmers of America members kicked off the fun on Aug. 9.

Trew Lammers was named Fair Queen, William Hollenbaugh was named Fair King and Jacob Bliss was named Fair Prince.

Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Woman for 2022, Leah Moellmer, updated the community on her service project teaming up with Hope House to provide shoes for kids in Boundary County. She plans to continue the Flapjack Jamboree run as a fundraiser for Hope House. The event will be held Nov. 12.

Hope House will be at the fair all week handing out and receiving clothing donations for those in need.

Moellmer will continue on to the state level of the DYW program in Idaho Falls in Oct. 2-8. She thanked the community for providing nearly $10,000 in scholarships and donations to this year's DYW participants.

4-H members had a style review of their sewing products and modeled their creations at the Opening Ceremonies. Alexis Davy was named grand champion for her sewing expressions.

Present at opening ceremonies were all members of local government, Boundary County commissioners Dan Dinning, Wally Cossairt and Tim Bertling, state Rep. Sage Dixon, BFPD Sgt. Willie Cowell, fair board members, county Clerk Glenda Poston, Bonners Ferry City Council member Brion Poston and Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commissioner Davis Hollenbaugh and County Commissioner GOP nomination winner Ben Robertson.

The community is invited to come down to the fair and enjoy the Around the World theme. Visit “Cluckingham Palace” for all things egg-cellent or hop over to “Shang-Hop” and observe the many rabbits.
