Not only is it time for the high school sports calendar, it’s also time for fall club sports to get underway as well, starting with the Sandpoint Strikers.
The Strikers kicked off their fall soccer season with a three day mini camp.
The Sandpoint Strikers coaches Randy Thoreson, Ed Bock, Adam Tajan and many other volunteers were on hand to help with mini camp.
Participants of the camp were treated to a special surprise on the final day when they were joined by members of the Sandpoint High School varsity teams.
The Bulldogs teamed up with Strikers players to play in round-robin scrimmages.
The weather was hot and provided less than ideal weather conditions for the players; luckily for those involved, popsicles were provided following the scrimmages. in the hot summer sun.
The Strikers mini camp saw over 100 players come out to participate.
For Sandpoint High School, just over 50 players from both the boys and girls teams joined in on the fun.
The Strikers and Bulldogs will both continue to practice before starting up with games in the next couple of days and weeks.
The Sandpoint High School boys team will play its first game on Aug 20 against Lake City High School.
The girls team will play their first game on Aug 19 against Lake City at War Memorial Field at 6 p.m.
