Former Lake City, NIC basketball player Dvorak named grad assistant at Texas A&M-Kingsville

KINGSVILLE, Texas — Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball coach Michael Madrid announced Monday that Cierra Dvorak, who played at Lake City and North Idaho College, will join his staff as a graduate assistant coach ahead of the 2022-23 season.

"We are extremely excited to add Cierra to our coaching staff," Madrid said. "She has a variety of playing experience at different levels and will add a tremendous amount of value on and off the floor for our student athletes. Cierra will be heavily involved in all aspects of our program, and I think our fan base will enjoy getting to know her in the years to come."

Dvorak joins the Javelinas squad after obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology with minors in professional foundation and health promotions from the College of Idaho, where she played on the women's basketball team.

Recently, she has spent time as an assistant girls' basketball coach at Coeur d'Alene High while serving as the special education administrative assistant at the school district. Additionally, she has had stints as a personal trainer and has served as a volunteer youth basketball coach from 2017-2020.

After playing at Lake City, Dvorak played at NIC, then at NCAA Division II Nebraska-Kearney before finishing her career at the College of Idaho.

WSU signs French guard Kymany Houinsou

PULLMAN — Washington State men’s basketball coach Kyle Smith has added to his 2022-23 squad with the signing of Kymany Houinsou of France, it was announced Monday.

Houinsou joins French U18 National teammate Maël Hamon-Crespin on the Cougar roster for the upcoming season.

“He is ... a perfect fit for our program with his ability to play on both sides of the ball," said Smith, who said the signing completes his recruiting class for the year. "He is a big guard who possesses great offensive playmaking skills that blend well with his natural defensive length, strength and instincts.”

Houinsou, from Mulhouse, France, started for the French U18 National Team this past summer where he averaged 10 points and 5.6 assists per game, while shooting 64 percent from two-point range. The 6-6 guard said to be a tenacious defender, while others have praised his creativity at the offensive end. At the 2021 U18 European Challengers, he averaged 10.4 ppg, 7.2 apg and 7.2 rpg, while adding 2.2 steals per game.

Houinsou played for Saint-Quentin BB and came up in the ASVEL Lyon youth system.

“Kymany is a prototype modern day player,” Smith added. “He gives us the ability to switch 1 through 5 defensively and allows us to be very flexible with the different styles of play in the Pac-12.”
