NIC SOCCER: McCulloch powers Cardinal women

TUKWILA, Wash. — North Idaho College sophomore forward Addison McCulloch had a goal and assist for the Cardinals in a 2-0 win over the Chemeketa Storm of Salem, Ore., in the season opener for both at the NWAC friendlies at the Starfire Soccer Complex on Tuesday.

Kaycee Chavez and Emily Ray had one save each for NIC, which is scheduled to face Southwestern Oregon today in Tukwila at 8 a.m.

First half — 1, NIC, Addison McCulloch (unassisted), 4:00. Second half — 2, NIC, Sophia Moderie (McCulloch), 78:00.

Shots on goal — Chem 2, NIC 11.

Saves — Chem, Sarahi Villaneuva 7; NIC, Kaycee Chavez 1, Emily Ray 1.

TUKWILA, Wash. — Skagit Valley scored the lone goal of the match in the fifth minute to beat North Idaho College in a battle of the Cardinals at the NWAC friendlies at the Starfire Sports Complex.

It was the season opener for both programs.

Marshall Cressall had five saves for NIC, which faces Pierce today at 2 p.m.

First half — 1, SVC, Ryosuke Tanaka (unassisted), 5:00. Second half — none.

Shots on goal — NIC 5, SVC 6.
