PREP VOLLEYBALL: Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls capture tournament titles

LEWISTON — The Coeur d’Alene Vikings went 5-0, capped by a three-set victory over Moscow in the championship match of the Judy Fong Memorial Tournament on Saturday at Lewiston High.
Coeur d’Alene beat Lakeland 21-10, 22-20, Genesee 21-6, 21-14 and Orofino 21-10, 21-10 in pool play.
In the semifinals, the Vikings beat Lakeland 22-20, 23-21, then beat Moscow 21-17, 16-21, 15-10 for the title.
Madi Symons had 51 kills, 24 digs and five aces on the day for Coeur d’Alene (6-0). Paisley Goings added 21 kills, Hailey Wuolle 43 assists and five aces, Gia Janke eight blocks, Lindsay Stubbs five blocks, Bailey Jaworski 33 assists, Alexa Stavros 22 digs.
“We had a great team effort,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “Everyone contributed to our success. They played for each other all day long.”
Coeur d’Alene travels to Lakeland on Tuesday.
Post Falls wins
at Kuna tourney
KUNA — The Trojans went 7-0 on the day, capped by a win over Boise in the championship match of the Kuna Klassic.
In pool play, Post Falls beat Nampa 25-14, 25-7, Mountain Home 25-14, 25-15 and Vallivue 25-4, 25-21.
In a crossover match, the Trojans beat Kuna 25-18, 25-20.
In bracket play, Post Falls beat Nampa Christian 25-15, 25-18, Council 25-9, 25-11 and Boise 25-19, 25-21.
Kylie Munday had 47 kills, 45 assists, seven blocks and 11 aces on the day for Post Falls (8-0). Trinity Byrne and Jenna Sarff each added 23 kills, Kaelyn Nagel 61 assists, Sam Anderson six blocks, Lexi Norisada 36 digs, Vanessa Kison 32 digs, Maddie Brazee nine aces.
“I was proud of our kids today in their flexibility in lineups and positions, as well as their willingness to work hard,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. “We served aggressively and were smart in our offense. It was a great day for growth in all areas of the game.”
Post Falls plays at Lakeland on Thursday.
