| August 31, 2022 1:00 AM

LaVonne Durice Olsen (Grandma Vonnie) was born April 8, 1932, to her parents, Forrest and Loretta Shelly, in Spokane, Wash. She grew up with her three beautiful sisters, Hallie, Charlene and Darlene. In 1948, LaVonne married her lifelong husband, Robert Olsen. LaVonne and Robert moved to Dalton Gardens, where they raised their four wonderful children: Barbara, Pam, Ted, and Gerald.

LaVonne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and made many lifelong friends there. For more than 20 years, LaVonne worked at Modern Drug. She had many different roles there but enjoyed working in the post office the most. She loved taking her grandkids to work with her and showing them off to all the customers. Being the social butterfly she was, anywhere LaVonne went, she always seemed to know someone. She is loved by many.

LaVonne passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at the age of 90. She will be greeted at Heaven’s gate by her parents, Forrest and Loretta; husband, Robert; three sisters, Hallie, Charlene, and Darlene; children, Barbara and Gerald; and grandchild, Stephanie. LaVonne is survived by her children, Pam and Ted and their spouses, Steve and Jeanne; grandchildren: Kristy, Raymond, Stacy, Scott, Carrie, and Ashley; their spouses, Russell, Susan, Brendan, Gabe, and Michael; and her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. We love you, Grandma Vonnie!

At LaVonne's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, she asks if you have the chance, please visit one of her most favorite places, Coeur d'Alene Lake, and enjoy the beautiful view.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit LaVonne’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
