WALLACE — After a successful November run of the hilarious show "Guys On Ice," the Sixth Street Melodrama will be back in December for a new show, "Christmas in a Barn."

"Christmas in a Barn" is written, directed and accompanied by the extraordinarily talented Joy Persoon, and features many familiar faces that have graced the melodrama stage.

The show begins with the cast traveling to Tekoa, Wash., as they take their Christmas show on the road. When their bus slides off the road into a snowdrift, the cast of the traveling show takes shelter in an old barn. While the performers wait to be rescued, the group decides to rehearse their show, to pass the time.

Tis the Season to sing and celebrate with friends as the show goes through a line-up that could make the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes with soloists like Carol Roberts serenading the crowd with “The Christmas Song” or Ken Bartle crooning “There’s a New Kid in Town.”

Enjoy sing-along favorites like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas” while the group sings and dances the night away, bringing you all the holiday cheer.

Celebrate finding love during the holidays with the velvet tones of Anika Sundstrom singing, “Merry Christmas, Darling.” Those who attend will also be lucky enough to hear this staff reporter singing “Santa Baby.”

The Sixth Street Theater was founded in 1983, and the building was located across the street, where the Northern Pacific Depot Museum now sits, with the location changing in 1984. The building itself has a colorful past and is the only wood building that remained in the present-day downtown that wasn’t destroyed by a fire in the 1890s.

“Christmas in a Barn” will run for one snowy weekend, Dec. 9-11, as part of Wallace’s Home for the Holidays event, with showtimes Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The theater is located at 212 Sixth St. in Wallace.

For more information or to purchase a ticket, visit the Sixth Street Melodrama and Theater Facebook page or call 208-752-8871.
