COEUR d'ALENE – TDS Telecommunications is collecting nonperishable food items to help veterans, active military members, and their families.

“We are forever grateful for the service of our veterans and military members,” said Sandy Raudebaugh, associate manager of field marketing in Coeur d’Alene.

Residents can drop off donations through Jan. 2 to support Newby-ginnings, a nonprofit that supports veterans.

Food can be delivered at TDS Coeur d’Alene locations at 2834 N. Ramsey Road, and the TDS Lounge inside the Silver Lake Mall.

Newby-ginnings sees about 120-150 people each day it is open, providing food, clothing and personal and household items.

"But that number is steadily increasing as the cost of food, rent and utilities continues to rise," said Theresa Hart, founder of Newby-ginnings. "So, thank you to TDS and our community for helping keep our pantry stocked for our veteran families who are struggling this holiday season."
