COEUR d’ALENE — Freshman Cobi Campbell had 41 points, hitting seven 3-pointers in the first half as NIC jumped out to a 76-45 lead en route to a 135-101 win over the Lilac City Legends semi-pro team from Spokane on Thursday night at Rolly Williams Court.

“We’ve got a good group that shoots the ball really well,” said NIC coach Corey Symons, whose team was ranked No. 1 in the latest Northwest Athletic Conference polls. “It’s hard to tell them not to pass up open shots. Cobi hit four 3-pointers on four straight possessions and really got us going. Lilac City knows how to play and shot it really well as well.”

Dominique McClendon, who grew up in Spokane before playing at Everett Community College, scored 25 points for Lilac City.

“He really knows how to play and score,” Symons said. “He’s crafty and tough.”

Vanti Erving scored 23 points off the bench for NIC (8-0), which hosts the Gonzaga club team on Saturday.
