Crash near Royal City claims one

ROYAL CITY — One person is dead following a collision near Royal City Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
According to WSP Trooper Collin Cumaravel, the deceased driver was westbound on SR 26 about nine miles east of Royal City, lost control and struck the other vehicle head-on. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was transported to Othello with minor injuries, Cumaravel said. SR 26 was closed briefly but was reopened by 4:15 p.m.
No further information was immeidately available, Cumaravel said. The identities of the drivers involved were withheld pending notification of family.
