PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Big second quarter sends Vikings over University

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Madi Symons led three Coeur d’Alene players in double figures with 19 points as the Vikings, who scored 32 points in the second quarter, ran past the University Titans 70-52 in a nonleague game at Viking Court on Saturday.
Junior Teagan Colvin scored 9 of her 15 points in the second quarter as the Vikings built a 48-18 halftime lead. Senior Kendall Omlin had 10 points for Coeur d’Alene.
Mckenzie Handran scored 13 points for University (2-1).
Coeur d’Alene hosts Lakeland on Tuesday.

PRIEST RIVER — The visiting Bulldogs shut down the Spartans defensively for the nonleague win at Priest River High.
"We did a good job penetrating against their zone," said Sandpoint coach Will Love, whose team lost 65-55 at Post Falls on Friday. "The girls responded well from last night's game. They played some good defense."
Daylee Driggs scored 19 points, Aliya Strock and Kelsey Cessna 18 each for Sandpoint (5-3), which finished with a season-high eight 3-pointers.
Priest River is 1-2.
Sandpoint hosts Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.
Priest River visits Kellogg in the Central Idaho League opener for both on Wednesday.

Jennifer Peterson had nine points and 10 assists, Chelsey Cate 10 points and 10 rebounds and Rylee Overturf 16 points and four blocks for North Idaho Christian (8-1), which faces the Spokane Athletic Co-op on Tuesday at The HUB in Liberty Lake.
