Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years, 9 months AGO
SPOKANE VALLEY — Coeur d’Alene High senior Dax Larsen beat Colville’s Connor Goff by 5-3 in overtime to capture the 145-pound title at the Inland Empire Classic at Central Valley High on Saturday.
“Dax is a veteran wrestler,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “He just stayed solid throughout, kept his composure and wrestled well. It wasn’t his best weekend, but he just kept fighting. He’s going to be in every match.”
Lakeland senior Preston Jeffs pinned Eastmont’s Kiedrowski in 2:52 in the 285-pound final.
Logan Bradley was second at 126, Justin Hayes third at 285, Will Rossi (120), Alyssa Randles (126), Colton Tucker (170) and Will Fairbanks (220) were fourth, and Tanner George fifth at 113 for Coeur d’Alene, which finished fourth with 144.5 points.
“As a team, we did a good job with a young group,” Moffat said. “We didn’t get beat by a lot of guys, but just made some mistakes that cost us some matches. We just need to clean things up. It’s early, but a good gauge at where we’re. I’m pleased with how many placers we had, but there’s lots of room for improvement.”
Jaren Knopp (second at 106), Matt Williams (third at 120), Kaleb Hammer (third at 132), John Meredith (fifth at 138) also placed for Lakeland, which was fifth with 122.
Mead (Blue) won the tournament with 257 points.
Coeur d’Alene hosts Lakeland and Kellogg on Wednesday.
