Hot Springs handled by top Seeley Lake squads

Some things are pretty certain. It snows in Montana in the winter, an elephant cannot hang over a cliff with its tail wrapped around a daisy, and it takes a very big dog to weigh a ton.
Oh yeah ... at least one or both of the Seeley Lake basketball teams will be very good.
Unfortunately for the Hot Springs Savage Heat teams, the Blackhawks haven’t migrated south.
Instead, the boys hung around to beat the Savage Heat boys 68-41, after the Lady Blackhawks took down the Lady Savage Heat 61-23 Saturday night in Seeley.
Seeley’s girls wasted little time showing their stuff Saturday night, jumping to a 22-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Hot Springs managed to slow the bleeding in the second quarter when both teams scored eight points, giving Seeley a 30-12 halftime advantage.
That pattern repeated itself in the second half as the Blackhawks outscored Hot Springs 23-6 in the third quarter, setting up a 53-18 lead with eight minutes to play.
That allowed Seeley to coast to its third win of the young season without a loss.
The Hot Springs boys didn’t fare much better as they too fell behind early and could not catch up. At the end of the first quarter the Blackhawks boys led 18-6, then stretched that to 44-22 at the half.
The Blackhawks kept up the pressure in the third quarter and by the end of the frame held a 60-27 lead.
The loss left Hot Springs with a 1-2 record for the year, while Seeley rose to 2-1.
Next up for the Savage Heat squads is a home meeting with Plains this Tuesday evening (Dec. 13).
