Thomas Warren Allyn, 21, was convicted of one count of lewd conduct with a minor under 16.
While Allyn, of Coeur d'Alene, was 20, he engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old.
Lewd conduct with a minor under 16 is a felony punishable by up to life in prison.
Allyn was sentenced Tuesday in Kootenai County. The prosecutor’s office recommended a 15-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after five years.
District Judge Lamont Berecz sentenced Allyn to a 12-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after four years.
In a news release, Prosecuting Attorney Stanley T. Mortensen thanked Criminal Chief Deputy Laura McClinton for prosecuting the case, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department for investigating and others who supported the victim and their family during the proceedings.
“The Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office supports victims of crime, particularly children who have been abused by the hands of a trusted adult,” Mortensen said in the release. “This type of conduct is among the worst in society and we appreciate all who work to protect children.”
