PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Pickford pushes Timberwolves

COEUR d’ALENE — Kamryn Pickford hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Lake City Timberwolves zoomed out to a 21-4 lead after one quarter en route to a 57-37 nonleague win over the Mt. Spokane Wildcats on Friday night at Lake City High.
Avery Waddington scored 15 points to lead Lake City (10-0), and Kaliah Frazey added eight.
Bryten Gumke scored 13 points for Mt. Spokane (3-2), which lost 52-48 to Post Falls on Tuesday.
Next up for Lake City is the Nike Tournament of Champions in Mesa, Ariz., starting Monday.

PRIEST RIVER — Sophomore Jennifer Peterson had 13 points, four assists and four steals as the Royals beat the Jaguars in the first round of the Santa Shootout at Priest River High.
Rylee Overturff added 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots for North Idaho Christian (10-1), which will play Clark Fork in the championship game today at 3 p.m. The Wampus Cats beat Priest River 38-34.
Simone Pilgrim had eight points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists for the Royals.
Katie Yount scored six points for Genesis Prep (4-5), which plays Priest River for the consolation title today at noon.
