Jeanette M. Hill, 95

Jeanette M Hill has moved from this world into her next life to be with her eight older siblings.

Born Feb. 20, 1927, and passed Dec. 13, 2022, she resided in the Coeur d'Alene area for many years living with her sister Dorothea.

She was born and raised in Redlands, Calif., where she attended Redlands University to become a schoolteacher. She taught middle school physical education in Encinitas and Solana Beach California for 33 years.

In 1949 she married Russell Hill and they moved to Seattle, Wash., where their first child, Michael, was born. A few years later they moved to the San Diego area and their second child, Jonathan, was born.

She is survived by two children, their spouses, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

From early on she loved the outdoors and especially hiking and bicycling.

One of her favorite places to backpack was Sequoia Park in the Sierra Nevada range, and she summitted Mt. Whitney.

She and Russell rode many multi-day trips around Southern California on their tandem bicycle

In her 70s with fellow cyclists she accomplished a bicycle tour across the U.S. from Southern California to Georgia. Following that, in her 87th year, she rode from Wallace to Lake Coeur d’Alene and back, 100 miles, in one day. At 93, for a new adventure, she went parasailing with friends on the lake.

During her time in Coeur d’Alene she volunteered at the Center for the Arts, where she made many dear friends.

Everyone that knew her agrees that it will be a long time for the world to produce another person loved as much as she was.
