PURSE RETURNED: Faith in people still strong
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years, 3 months AGO
Last Wednesday became a nightmare for me when I left my purse in the basket at the Hayden Walmart. I realized it the minute I pulled out of the driveway, drove back to where I put the basket, but no purse. I ran in, went to customer service and they told me no one had turned in a purse. I was shaking and terribly upset because I realized my purse had probably been snatched while I was loading my car. It was freezing and windy and I was hurrying to get into my car, so I was not paying attention to it. My phone, my checkbook, my Social Security card, Medicare card, insurance cards and credit and debit cards and driver license were all in there. There were also a couple of pictures that I have carried for years and are near and dear to my heart. I came home to cancel and notify all the pertinent entities. It felt very surreal to have my purse stolen. I have never experienced this before. A while later there was a knock on my door. I answered it and an angel sent from heaven was standing there. She said, “Are you Storma?” I saw my purse in her hand and didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or cry. I hugged her and asked her where she found it. She said it was in the parking lot just sitting in the basket. I could not believe I did that, but it just goes to show you it can happen to anyone. My husband and I started to whip out our wallets to give her a gift, but she would not accept it. I didn’t even get her name. I just call her “Angel." I hear all the time how horrible people are and not to be trusted. This reaffirms my faith in people. So, I say, “Thank you, Angel, for my best Christmas present!”
