COEUR d’ALENE — When Coeur d’Alene sophomore Carter Rupp gets it going, it’s going to be a good night.

Wednesday was a good night for the Vikings.

Rupp, a reserve, scored 11 of his 18 points in the second half as the Vikings beat the visiting Bishop Kelly Knights of Boise 62-42 at Viking Court.

“Carter was pretty balanced tonight,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams said. “He comes off the bench and can really shoot the ball. We call him the microwave because he just heats up and isn’t shy about shooting. We knew he’d get his fair share of shots up.”

Freshman Caden Symons scored 14 points and junior Logan Orchard 11 for Coeur d’Alene (9-2), which hosts Eagle today.

Joseph Behrend scored 12 points for Bishop Kelly (1-6), which visits Lake City today.

“Blake had a great night tonight,” Lake City coach Jim Winger said. “It wasn’t the prettiest game, or had the greatest flow, but it was work-man-like. Defensively, we could have been better, but we’re pleased with it.”

POST FALLS — It was close to the best that the Trojans have played all season.

Outside of that stretch in the fourth quarter.

Neil McCarthy scored 13 points for the Trojans, who fell short to the Mustangs at The Arena.

Landon White scored 40 points for Eagle (4-5).

“We struggled a little with him tonight,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “They ran a lot of different sets for him and we didn’t do a very good job against him. He made a lot of tough shots and I thought he played a very, very good game for them.”

As for his guys …

“We battled them and matched their physicality to the best of our ability,” McLean said. “Outside of that three minute stretch in the fourth, we were pretty aggressive against their pressure. They made a run on us and we’ll learn from it going forward.”

Cooper Craig had 12 points and eight rebounds, Asher Bowie nine points and eight rebounds for Post Falls (2-9), which hosts Meridian today at 1 p.m.

Dylan Rehder had four 3-pointers in the first half, three in the first quarter for Moscow, which led 24-13 after the first quarter.

“We didn’t come out with the urgency that we needed on defense and they were hitting transition shots,” Kellogg coach Mike Martin said. “We played them even in the final three quarters, but they kind of blew it open in the first few minutes of the second half.”

Kellogg used a 16-0 run to cut the deficit to five late in the third.

“We did a better job of playing with urgency in the second quarter and beyond,” Martin said. “They just took advantage of that early on.”

Kolby Luna had 12 points and eight rebounds for Kellogg (4-3), which faces Prairie in the seventh-place game today.

Senior Capri Sims had 25 points and 18 rebounds, junior Letti Asper 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Trojans, who held off the Mavericks in the opening day of the TimberLion Tournament at Timberline High.

“Those two really stepped it up tonight,” Post Falls coach Brian Hall said. “Our guards didn’t have great nights, but our posts played really well. Asper hit a big 3-pointer and both Capri and Letti won us that game in the fourth quarter and scored all 20 of our points.”

Hall also praised the effort of 6-foot-1 reserve Ellie McGowan, who had four points and four rebounds.

“Ellie played really well coming in tonight,” Hall said. “We knew Mountain View was a second half team and they came out and played hard. Our girls battled hard in the fourth quarter and just found a way.”
