From the Editor,

Another year has come and gone.

2022 was a wonderful year in Shoshone County.

As life returned to full-tilt normalcy following two years of pandemic restrictions, it became very clear that we are exceptionally lucky to live where we do.

Festivals made their returns to much ado, local groups like the Sixth Street Theatre and Melodrama went back to a full run of shows, sporting events saw some of the highest attendance numbers in recent memory and the community thrived on it.

In July, the largest Silver Hoops 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament happened, with 170 teams braving the blistering heat.

New leaders were elected to take the county into the coming years and many locals feel hopeful that these leaders will bring about more positive changes to the communities that they serve.

As it is with any community, 2022 had its fair share of darker days, whether it be due to tragedy, unruly weather or civil unrest — but unlike many places, the people are always able to come together for the sake of each other.

While the world changed, Shoshone County remained largely the same and there is nothing wrong with that.

2023 will be another great year.

Full of new adventures, opportunities and lasting memories.

I’m glad to be here for them and look forward to sharing them with all of you!

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look at a few of the memorable moments from 2022: The good, the bad, and maybe even a little bit of the ugly.
