WALLACE — The Wampus Cats fended off Wallace on Tuesday night to secure their ninth straight win.
The 36-32 victory allowed Clark Fork boys basketball to complete a season sweep of the Miners.
It was all about defense Tuesday and head coach Heath Beason said even the easy shots weren't falling.
"Both teams just struggled on offense ... but we both played a heck of a defensive game," he said.
The Wampus Cats took a 25-13 advantage into halftime, but Wallace clawed back in it. Fortunately, Clark Fork did just enough down the stretch to earn the victory.
In the first meeting between these schools on Jan. 20, the Wampus Cats grabbed a 52-46 win over Wallace in Clark Fork.
"It was hard just like the first game was," Beason said. "They gave us a fight."
Beason said his team deserved this win because of the effort and passion they played with.
Antonio Mayorga tallied 11 points and six rebounds, Sam Barnett had 10 points and five rebounds and Ethan Howard grabbed 8 points and eight rebounds. Carter Sanroman added 4 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
The Wampus Cats (12-6) host Immaculate Conception Academy at 7 p.m. today.
