POST FALLS — A man is dead after an alleged murder-suicide attempt, according to Post Falls police.

Law enforcement responded Tuesday afternoon to a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of West 16th in Post Falls.

Officers found a man in the driveway who had a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

First responders reportedly found a woman in the garage who had also sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

She was reportedly awake when police arrived and was transported to Kootenai Health.

A preliminary investigation reportedly indicates the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence incident.

The deceased man allegedly attempted to shoot the woman before shooting himself, according to a Post Falls Police Department news release.

The names of the individuals have not been released.

An investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story.
