Marilyn Mae Mushlitz, 80

Marilyn Mae Mushlitz, age 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022. She was born April 11, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., to Dessa and Reuben Yakey and moved to Hansen, Idaho, shortly after.

Marilyn and her younger sister, Judy, both graduated from Hansen High School located in Hansen, Idaho. Marilyn was popular in school where she was a cheerleader and valedictorian. She was also chosen to participate in Girls State.

Marilyn met and fell in love with her husband, John Mushlitz, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and they were inseparable for more than sixty years. John was in the banking business when Bankers were often transferred. They lived in many cities in Idaho and Oregon while raising their three children. Marilyn easily made friends wherever she lived. She was outgoing and had many interests and hobbies, including sewing, quilting, boating and traveling. During her career, she primarily worked as an office manager in medical offices. Her earnings went almost entirely toward the wellbeing and education of her children. She was a loving mother. She steadfastly contributed toward their health and happiness and encouraged her children toward academic achievement and college.

Marilyn and John enjoyed the last 35-plus years in the Coeur D'Alene area. The last fifteen years were also enjoyed immensely at a "part time" home on the Oregon Coast.

She is survived by her husband, John; her children Doug (Wife Anne) Mushlitz of Lewiston, Idaho, John Mushlitz, Jr. (Wife Wendy) of Portland, Ore., and Michele (Husband Steve) Wood of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren (one deceased) and her sister, Judy (Husband John) Byrne of Boise, Idaho.
