The community has a chance to show some love to Safe Passage Violence Prevention Center this Valentine’s Day weekend.

The “Galentine’s Day” brunch is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Hayden Lake Country Club.

Tickets for this mom-and-daughter event are $70 per person and $450 for a table of eight. This includes bottomless mimosas and a three-course meal.

Children under age 12 get in free and can enjoy a kid-friendly buffet, as well as a special art project.

Event costs are covered by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Jacklin Real Estate, a Coeur d’Alene-based real estate brokerage firm.

That means 100% of ticket sales go to Safe Passage, one of the largest victim services agencies in the state of Idaho.

Each year, Safe Passage provides confidential victim services and emergency shelter to around 1,600 survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child victimization.

Programs include 24-hour crisis line services, an emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, sexual assault intervention services and more.

Megan Mongeau said she and her sister, Nicole Jacklin, first organized the brunch five years ago as an opportunity for women and girls to get together and enjoy Valentine’s Day. The event has grown each year.

This year, for the first time, the sisters are selling tickets to support a local cause.

“We’re just a group of women coming together to support other women,” Mongeau said.

Mongeau said about $4,000 in tickets had been sold as of Thursday morning — with room for more.

Tickets are on sale through today.
