Coeur d'Alene resident Francis D. Gunseor, 35, has been identified as the suspect in the Friday night shooting in Post Falls.
The Post Falls Police Department said in a news release Monday that Gunseor is under guard in Kootenai Health. When he is released from the hospital, he will be transported to the Kootenai County Public Safety Building where he will be booked on an outstanding probation warrant.
Charges are being submitted to the Kootenai County prosecutor.
Multiple 911 calls about a shooting on Columbine Court were received by the Post Falls Emergency Communications Center about 11:15 p.m. Friday. Gunseor allegedly forced himself into a residence in the 2100 block and shot an adult female. He then shot an adult male multiple times before fleeing the residence in a dark colored passenger vehicle, police said.
Post Falls Police said it's believed Gunseor knew the victims.
The woman was treated for her injuries and transported to Kootenai Health. She is in stable condition.
The male victim was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on scene.
Gunseor was located in his vehicle by Coeur d’Alene Police in the area of Ninth Street and Best Avenue in Coeur d'Alene. The vehicle was stopped and Gunseor shot himself, police said. He was transported to Kootenai Health and is undergoing treatment. He is in stable condition, Kootenai Health reported.
Victim information will be released once Gunseor is charged, police said.
Detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Sgt. Neil Uhrig at 208-773-3517.
