The Idaho all-league girls basketball teams were announced with Clark Fork, Sandpoint, and Priest River having several representatives.
Priest River:
For Priest River, junior Lilly Freitas was named to the All-Intermountain League team.
Freitas’ defensive game was notably impressive for the Spartans. She turned many steals into easy baskets in 2022.
Clark Fork:
The Wampus Cats were one of only two teams in the North Star League.
Clark Fork had three girls make the all-league team and senior Katelyn Matteson received MVP honors.
“She was going for it last year but wasn’t quite able to get it,” Clark Fork girls basketball coach Jordan Adams said. “She worked her butt off this year and really deserved it.”
Matteson was Clark Fork’s leading scorer from a year ago but made the transition to the post in 2022.
“I don’t know if a whole lot of girls would’ve made that sacrifice for the betterment of the team,” Adams said. “But she’s a natural leader and went where we needed her to play and she excelled.”
Grace Yancy, Lilly Reuter, and Hannah Thompson also received all-league nods.
Sandpoint
The Bulldogs went to its eighth state tournament in nine years, which resulted in head coach William Love earning 4A Inland Empire League coach of the year honors.
Love coached Sandpoint to a 12-10 overall record along with a 4A District I-II championship.
Sophomore Aliya Strock earned newcomer of the year honors.
She really pitched in for the Bulldogs down the stretch; she scored 24 points in their two games against Lakeland to get them to the state tournament.
Daylee Driggs and Kelsey Cessna also earned all-league honors.
