LETTER: Full of fiction
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 11 months AGO
With respect to Lt. Col. Kenny Moore’s military service, his letter, “Militia,” published in Friday’s Press is full of untruths. Although he may have a career ahead of him as a writer of engaging fan fiction.
I, too, support our local militias and publicly thanked them after the events of June 2020. However, I took the time to listen to what actual militia members had to say, and many of them declared they were there at the BLM event to protect the protesters as well as the city.
The rumors of Antifa from Portland were literally just that — rumors. If you check, you will find that social media was flooded with equally false rumors of pending Antifa attacks in cities all over the U.S. that same day.
No carloads of Antifa arrived in Coeur d’Alene after dark. There was a single eye-witness who saw a Mercedes van drive through town, and that turned into “proof” that Antifa came and ran away when they saw the armed resistance.
The pallets of bricks were part of a landscaping project already underway in a local neighborhood. The Lt. Col. neglected to mention that the crowd of 300 which “had grown to more than 600” was mostly made up of militia, not protesters. And I’d wager “Mike” is a made-up person.
Kenny, do you still have that Antifa Handbook, with the instructions on the cover helpfully labeling all white people as fascists? I’d like to see it for myself. Please produce it as evidence of your fever dream.
Also, please explain how all of the white “agitators” could possibly have been hired by Antifa, given they were all actual fascists and the literal enemy of Antifa — it says so right on the label!
