Robert and Aleatha Sawhill will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary today on Jan. 1, 2022.

Robert, 94, and Aleatha, 93, were married on the first day of the year in 1950. They were married here in Sandpoint and are residents to this day.

They traveled during their young years while building houses, schools and churches. Along the way, Robert collected many rocks he found and still treasures them today.

After their travels, the couple returned to Sandpoint and raised five children and now have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"On behalf of your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, we love you both dearly," family members said in sharing the news.
