Duane Gleason, 88
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years AGO
It is with sad hearts we had to say goodbye to our loving dad on Jan. 1, 2022, when he joined the love of his life, Irene.
He was born in Egan, S.D., on Nov. 22, 1933, and grew up in Trent, S.D., before moving to Hayden in 1953. He worked on the construction of the Albeni Falls Dam, and the Potlatch Mill, before starting at Williams Equipment Company in Spokane where he retired after working over 50 years. He was instrumental in starting the Hayden Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Hayden Little League in the 1960s.
In their younger years, he and Irene loved camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. His family was the most important thing in his life, never missing any sporting or school events of his kids and grandkids. He loved watching the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Seattle Seahawks and Mariners, with near-perfect attendance from his recliner. He may be remembered most for his sense of humor — he never forgot a joke and loved to tease people, especially his sister-in-law, Marcia.
He is survived by children JoAnn (Terry) Gordon, Debbie (Tom) Stroud and Steve (Diane) Gleason; grandchildren Tanya, Brad, Greg, Brian and Brandy; great-grandchildren Ashlynn, Brittany, Ryle, Kyler, Bailee, Cole, Alayna, Wyatt, Owen, Amelia and Lexi; great-great-grandchildren Peyton, Piper, and Maverick. Also survived by his brother Darwin (Marcia) Gleason, sister-in-law Janice Gleason, Myrthal Brown and brother-in-law Don Hendrickson.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents Voyne V. and Enid, brother Daryl.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. English Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
