KSD seeks applicants for board vacancy
JOSH McDONALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 3 years AGO
KELLOGG — The Board of Trustees for the Kellogg School District is looking for someone to step up and fill a vacant seat.
At Wednesday’s regularly scheduled board meeting, the district formally declared the vacancy for Zone 1.
During last year’s election season, Zone 1 Trustee Todd Sheppard decided to not seek re-election and in the weeks since Election Day, no one has shown interest in the position.
Board trustees are responsible for making the decisions that guide the district through the course of the school year, as well as working in conjunction with the other trustees to navigate through any unexpected situations.
The position runs through December 2023.
To be eligible for the position, a person must be a registered voter in the Kellogg School District, living within the zone that they represent.
The Zone 1 trustee represents the areas of south Kellogg/Warder and the eastern areas of Elizabeth Park, Big Creek, Elk Creek and Moon Gulch on the north side of I-90. A map and legal description of the zone can be found on the district website at www.kelloggschools.org under the School Board tab.
The Board of Trustees is asking that any eligible member interested in applying for the open trustee position to submit an application by Friday, Jan. 28 at noon.
In order to apply, members must fill out an application on the KSD website.
The details of the application include very specific instructions and must include a letter of interest — within that letter of interest must be: full contact information (phone number, email and residential address), a state about the applicant’s background, reasons for applying, top three objectives if selected, and any past or present affiliations with the district.
The application also requests that a resume is attached as well.
The Board of Trustees will review all applications and may appoint a candidate at a public meeting that will be scheduled in February.
For any other information, or questions, please contact Kellogg School District Board of Trustees Clerk Megan Bumgardner at 208-784-1348, or by email at megan.bumgardner@kelloggschools.org.
